Four months ago we found the bed frame on our neighbor's curb ready for the trash the next day. It was wobbly and ugly, but I saw its potential. We were close to home, yet too far away for Jared and I (5 months preggo) to carry it ourselves. Fortunately, friends live across the street from the bed house and Dave was willing to load the frame into the back of his truck and haul it home for us. You know someone is a good friend when they will pause their evening TV viewing, not even change out of their PJs, to lend a helping hand.
The bed frame remained in our garage till this past week when Jared had more free time. Between removing the safety bar, repairing the bottom right part of the frame, sanding, priming and painting 2 coats we shopped locally for a mattress. I am all about deals, but a mattress is one item I don't want to buy used from a random person--bedbugs, body fluids, are they really the only owner?--not for me! I was able to get the mattress I REALLY wanted by doing some comparison shopping around town. A store down the street had a cheaper priced, but lower quality mattress. I called the manager at Mattress Town and gave him the pricing of his competitor and he knocked off $20! WOO-HOO!
